The Unique Archerfish Can Recognize Human Faces

A small fish, known as the archerfish, have an extraordinary talent: they can shoot down prey using jets of water. Recently, researchers have found that archerfish have another special talent- they can recognize human faces.

Four archerfish were shown two pictures of human faces, one of them promising food. After 30 trials, the smartest archerfish memorized the face that produced a meal of insects. The others followed soon after. So the researchers needed to make it more difficult. Therefore, they upped the number of faces shown to the archerfish to 44. The archerfish were around 89 percent accurate on shooting at the correct face.

This is a major finding for science, and could possibly result in scientists doing research to find out what other secrets are animals might be hiding.
