Marvels of the World's Second Largest Continent

by Alisa Vargas, age 10

Africa is the second largest continent in the world. There are over 831 million people who live in Africa. Most people are Muslim, Christian or practice other local religions. More than ten percent of the world’s population lives in Africa.
With Africa’s rapid population growth, people often move to different cities to search for food and jobs. Most people, however, live in small towns or villages. A Nomadic lifestyle is also very common because many people move to get away form civil wars, droughts, and famine that occur in rural areas.

This continent has three huge deserts including the Kalahari, the Namib, and the Sahara desert. The Kalahari and Namib are located in southern Africa. The Sahara is located in northern Africa, and is the world’s largest desert. Very few animals can survive its horrible heat.

There is a lot to learn about Africa. As the second largest continent, Africa has a rich and diverse culture ready to be explored. If you want to learn more, I recommend that you go visit.
